MIASA, or Persatuan Kesedaran dan Sokongan Penyakit Mental – is a Mental Health Advocacy and Peer Support NGO based in Selangor. It was founded by Puan Anita Abu Bakar who has worked in the corporate world for over 10 years.
MIASA strives to continuously develop, expand, and strengthen community-based support services for peers and caregivers, and advocate for their rights and dignity.
MIASA supports and empowers peers in their recovery journey by providing liberty, autonomy, and supported decision-making, to ensure peers are able to live a life that is meaningful and purposeful, according to their wants and needs.
Having transitioned from the corporate world to the social impact space nine years ago due to personal experience with mental health challenges, I brought effective management strategies to the NGO sector, establishing a strong organizational structure. At MIASA, our approach to supporting people with mental health conditions sets us apart. Unlike many employers who lack understanding and create unsupportive work environments, we embrace and celebrate hiring individuals with mental health conditions. By breaking down barriers and challenging negative perceptions, we shift attitudes and behaviors, while these individuals become inspiring role models, showcasing resilience and the ability to lead fulfilling lives.
iGLOW’s vision is to be a creative mobile healthcare provider to improve awareness and community engagement with regards to prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases.
iGLOW brings healthcare to the community and corporations.
In the prevention stage, iGLOW wants to educate the population, make it easy for them to get checked, and empower them with the necessary knowledge to change their lifestyle. iGLOW adopts Wellbeing at Workplace and a mobile 10-point heart check to raise awareness and enable risk profiling with employees.
iGlow, with our vision to become the leading healthcare advocate in Malaysia, addresses two key issues prevalent in the healthcare industry of Malaysia. Firstly, the direction of healthcare should prioritise preventive healthcare, and secondly, the escalating healthcare costs resulting from certain restrictions, overregulation, and the dominance of traditional, large-scale businesses in the healthcare industry. I firmly believe that with iGlow’s vision, we can effectively tackle the primary challenges currently faced in the healthcare industry. We strongly advocate for preventive healthcare as a prevailing trend, and we strive to be flexible in our approach, bringing healthcare solutions directly to the community.iders work by providing them access to a digital health platform that will elevate their level of services in the management of chronic disease which is not commonly available at this moment.

Driven by a team of dedicated medical professionals and staff, we aim to achieve our vision of being the preferred healthcare provider in Klang with a focused method on patient care.
We apply a multidisciplinary team approach which comprises Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Rehabilitation, Aesthetic Surgery, and others.
Our CSR activities are inclusive, allowing all staff, not just healthcare professionals, to contribute to society and feel privileged to lend a helping hand. Initiatives such as advocating preventive health, conducting health talks, on-site screenings, and free health checks have had a profound impact, creating awareness about the importance of health screenings and promoting public health. The pandemic has taught us the significance of taking charge of our own health and seeking early treatment to prevent serious illness. Through our CSR activities and health promotion events, we aim to raise awareness that prevention is always better than cure. It is with great pride that we announce BTMC’s recent recognition as the Most Improved Community Hospital for Malaysia in 2022, a testament to our unwavering dedication to CSR.
