SEACare 2025 Strengthens Malaysia’s Leadership in Southeast Asia’s Healthcare Landscape

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 APRIL 2025 — Malaysia’s commitment to transforming its healthcare system takes centre stage this week as SEACare 2025, the SEA Healthcare and Pharma Show, opens its doors at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). With RM45.3 billion allocated to healthcare under Budget 2025, the nation is intensifying efforts to enhance infrastructure, promote innovation, and expand equitable access—positioning SEACare as a vital platform to catalyse regional healthcare advancement.

Supported by key agencies including the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Medical Device Authority (MDA), and SIRIM Berhad, the exhibition also brings back its successful International Sourcing Programme (INSP) and Hosted Buyers Program, connecting Malaysian businesses with international procurement networks.

Officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia, SEACare 2025 brings together 130 exhibiting brands across 250 booths from 13 countries and markets, spanning medtech, biopharma, digital health, and more. Held under the theme “Strategic Partnerships in Healthcare Innovation: Fostering Collaboration for Digital Transformation,” this year’s show underscores the value of cross-sector alliances and public-private cooperation.

This year, SEACare 2025 launches the inaugural SEA Healthcare and Pharma Conference 2025, co-organised by National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and 5 Pillars Venture, and endorsed by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS). Industry Spotlight: Addressing Malaysia’s Key Healthcare Challenges

Besides the conference, SEACare 2025 showcased a dedicated three-day Industry Spotlight series led by local agencies and partners, including the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), SIRIM Berhad, Amazon Web Services, CapBay, Neudebri Surgical Tools, and WeAssist. These industry-led sessions explored regulatory pathways, pharmaceutical safety, manpower and staffing, as well as the evolving role of health technology assessment in Malaysia’s healthcare landscape.

Strengthening Cross-Sector Alliances

The opening ceremony also introduced the Zafar VC Fund, launched by 5 Pillars Venture Capital with Founder Institute, to support healthtech startups through the Medexel Accelerator Program. Selected startups will receive up to USD $250,000, curated mentorship, and a growth curriculum developed by Frost & Sullivan.

MATRADE, Malaysia’s national trade promotion agency, conducted on ground demonstrations to highlight export ready Malaysian healthcare products and facilitated business matching sessions between local companies and international buyers. SIRIM Berhad also offered insights into quality assurance, product testing, and certification services, especially vital for startups and SMEs aiming to scale into regulated markets.
